西 藏 正 宗 古 天 珠
Tibetan Old Dzi Beads
Ancient Dzi beads, known for their enigmatic nature, hold many tales regarding their origins. Embedded within numerous Asian cultures is the belief in their capacity to bestow positive spiritual influence, rendering them cherished as protective talismans. Adorning necklaces or encircling wrists as bracelets, these beads also have a history of being grounded into powders for employment in traditional medicinal practices.
Of utmost value are Dzi beads of antiquity, hewn from natural agate. Across time, the intricacies of their composition and configuration have retained an aura of mystery. These beads manifest a spectrum of symbolic motifs by combining ornamental symbols ranging from circles, ovals, and squares to waves, zig-zags, stripes, lines, diamonds, and dots. Predominantly spanning hues from earthy brown to deep black, with motifs typically etched in ivory white, Dzi beads exhibit a diversity of colors, shapes, and sizes. The surface, worn smooth and waxy through the ages, carries a testament to its longevity.
Identifying a genuine top-tier ancient Dzi bead involves a few discerning features. Coveted are cinnabar dots or "blood spots" scattered within the white spaces, a rarity that enhances desirability. Minuscule circular "scaled" impressions resembling fish or serpent scales are equally sought-after. Further differentiating factors include the count of "eyes" on the bead, where circular configurations hold significance. The pinnacle of eye count for an aged Dzi bead rests at twelve. Each count is imbued with symbolic connotations. Hence, collectors consistently vie for these antique Dzi beads due to the intricate interplay of eye count, arrangement, and patterns, each facet laden with meaning.
